Gavottes Crepe Dentelle are thin, crispy French cookies, made from fine flour, butter, sugar and egg yolks. These cookies a delicate paper thin texture, a delicious crunch and a caramelised buttery flavour.
The original recipe was made by accident in 1888 in Brittany, France, by Marie-Catherine Cornic who left one of her crepes cooking on the stove for too long. She decided to fold and roll it up and was delighted by the light and crispy texture of the biscuit. And so, the crepes dentelle were born!
Enjoy as a sweet treat with a cup of tea or coffee. Add gavottes to ice cream as a garnish. Or combine these irresistible wafer-like biscuits with a dessert to add crunch to a cream or chocolate ganache.
